The Landsharks Running Club, a Colorado Springs based non-profit, develops young athletes in positive, safe, character-based programs for those in Kindergarten through 6th grade. The focus is on having fun, competing against individual abilities, improving personal skills, being an encouraging teammate, making new friends, and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Sunrise offers Landsharks Running Club in the Fall and the Spring. Watch for a flyer coming home to learn how to register your child for Landsharks Running Club. Student Council promotes leadership and spreads kindness throughout the Sunrise and Widefield community. This year, Student Council will lead a number of events including the annual Toy Drive, Food Drive, Community Clean Up, and Day Without Hate. We will also foster leadership and kindness through posters, announcements, and videos. 

Our student council is hitting the ground running this semester! We will be getting out in the community volunteering for the Mill dog rescue, and we will also be more of a presence in the building, doing things to thank teachers, staff, and encourage students to keep pushing on.

In Chess Club, students are learning how to improve their chess skills by practicing and playing this strategic game against each other. Also, students are expected to show good sportsmanship and be respectful in winning or losing the game. There will be a district chess competition that members will participate in.

Tomorrow's innovators practice imaginative thinking and teamwork. Guided by coaches, FIRST LEGO League teams research a real-world problem such as food safety, recycling, energy, etc. and are challenged to develop a solution. They must design, build, and program a robot using Spike Lego, then compete on a table-top playing field.
