Playworks helps kids to stay active and build valuable social and emotional skills through play.
Play is a basic human need.
Kids who play are resilient, empathetic, and active.
Through play, kids learn to make friends, solve problems, and believe in themselves. Even in hard times.

Random Acts of Kindness
We believe that kindness starts with one: One compliment, one smile, one kind act, one person.
Our mission is to change schools, the workplace, families and society through kindness. We work toward that goal by creating free content that promotes kindness toward others & teaches important kindness skills to kids.

Zones of Regulation
A FRAMEWORK TO FOSTER SELF-REGULATION AND EMOTIONAL CONTROL
Self-regulation is something everyone continually works on whether or not we are cognizant of it. We all encounter trying circumstances that test our limits from time to time. If we are able to recognize when we are becoming less regulated, we are able to do something about it to manage our feelings and get ourselves to a healthy place. This comes naturally for some, but for others it is a skill that needs to be taught and practiced. This is the goal of The Zones of Regulation (or Zones for short).

Social Emotional Learning
Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
Sunrise Elementary School is committed to ensuring all students have a positive strong sense of self-worth, citizenship, social awareness and social skills as well as a sound, challenging, and positive academic experience. To support this mission, we are implementing social emotional learning through Playworks, Random Acts of Kindness, and The Zones of Regulation.
