LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Welcome to Sunrise Otter Families!

I would like to take this opportunity to personally welcome your student(s) and family to our amazing school. We are excited that you will be joining our Sunrise team for the 2020-2021 school year, and know that you will find Sunrise to be a special place!

Sunrise is an excellent school with a long history of commitment to providing students with an outstanding educational experience that meets their social emotional and academic needs through a Whole-Child approach. Our teachers provide rigorous and student-centered instruction based on students’ individual academic performance levels and learning styles. Beyond grade level curriculum and instruction, Sunrise Otters also attend PE, Music, Library/Social Emotional Learning, and Computer classes. In addition, we offer several before/after school clubs to foster student growth, expose students to new experiences, and support non-academic opportunities.

We have high expectations for our students, both academically and socially. We expect students to be safe, respectful, and responsible. Similar to academics, we know that behaviors should be taught, practiced, and reinforced. We teach and consistently review positive behavioral expectations with students for all areas of our school. In addition, we reward students consistently when they meet these expectations. Our Renaissance program recognizes individuals for their academic and social accomplishments throughout the school year. Students can also earn “golden tickets” by demonstrating behavior that is safe, respectful, and responsible. Once our school year gets underway, you will have the opportunity to learn more about these special programs and the positive learning environment that is a hallmark of Sunrise Elementary.

Again, on behalf of the staff, we welcome you to our school. Sunrise is a special place, and we are certain that you will find a safe and professional learning atmosphere for your children.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Jackie Powell, Principal
